Takahiro Kimura has got to be one of the most interesting and exciting collagist. When I first saw his work, I was caught up in his technique. How did he do it. It is as if he has taken cut and paste, then printed, then colourized it using crayons. The colours are fabulous. And then he has this great book out. With a fabulous video. You must watch the video. If there is a downside to his work, and I’m not saying it is a downside, it is that his work has his signature all over it. You immediately see that it is the same artist who has done each piece. A kind of boredom could set in. But not for me.

I love this guy’s work. Its one of those great surprises when your back is acting up and  your wife has run off to the mall because she’s restless and its Sunday and finally getting warmer.

I have blogged on this artist several times. Her signature/style is the same for all of her work. And I never tire of it. Something very satisfying about each piece. Takahiro Kimura.

I have always been a huge fan of Kimura’s work. Its brilliant. Now a short animation has been created of his work by Rui Miyoshi which is very interesting. I’m not crazy about the song attached to it. Its lulling. And I just woke up. From my nap. I’ll listen to it this evening while I’m drinking myself to sleep. This whole project is well worth investigating. Did I say drinking? I meant thinking.

Takahiro Kimura has a new project. Takahiro is one of my favourite artists. Collage artists. As soon as you see one of his works, you immediately identify it as his. So he has a voice. But not one you grow tired. The opposite. He manages to refresh your enthusiasm. His work is not so much about surprises as it is curiosity. This project is about portraits. I don’t know where he gets his models. Whether they are out of his own camera, imagination, or magazine collection. But they all have a certain quality about them.

Below is a short video he made. It is very funny.

Takahiro Kimura’s work is straight out wonderful. I remember as a kid we used to do rubs. You could take parts of the newspaper or comic book and by rubbing on the back of a picture or a column the ink would be pressed onto the paper underneath. (I don’t know if it’ll work anymore.) I’m sure this is not how Kimura works but the effect is similar. Maybe I’m just being nostalgic. But a tour of his sight would be a revelation to anyone.

This guy’s work is really interesting. Not only the stills, which work alone as pieces but by his little films.
