Victor Genova

Perhaps my most successful model in my work has been Victor Genova. He has a natural comic face. These are but a few examples.

Naive art, or so it is called, has always mesmerized me. It can tilt over to the side into ‘tacky’ or ‘smaltz’.

Barry Kite

30 04 2015

This is what was written about Barry Kite:

‘After receiving his B.F.A. in film from UCLA, Chicago-born Barry Kite spent the next five years traveling overseas. Returning to the San Francisco Bay area, he wrote and performed his own style of surreal poetry in local coffee houses. Renewing his interest in collage, he combined photographic and hand-coloring techniques to create the foundation of his current work.’

The guy is a self-starter, free enterpriser. And he’s fun.

ChStBurning Title1 ChStTitlev1 Filmores Burning Filmores Fuel Station Burning Fuel StationIn the 1970s I started writing a new kind of poetry. It was based on the page as a canvas. The words themselves had multiple meanings depending on how you read them. Sort of like a crossword puzzle. The poems met with a good deal of success, being published in magazines and reviews across the United States and Canada. They appeared with illustrations/collages I created. I later epublished them under the name, Church Street Is Burning.

Sabina Nore

Accomplished in many things, Sabina Nore’s art is fanciful and playful. The work itself is flush with surface. She does not appear to have a dark side. (Did I really say ‘flush with surface’? God, I must be tired.) Her work is pleasing but not exciting. Still pleasing can be enjoyable.
